KU to honor high school seniors at Chanute

LAWRENCE -- Students from eight Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, April 3, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the American Legion Post 170, 301 N. Evergreen, Chanute.

Honorees are listed below.

Stephen McAllister, dean of the School of Law, will speak. Alumni Association representative Jennifer Mueller, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $8 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Virginia Crane, Chanute, is the site and Neosho County coordinator. Dennis Depew and J.D. and Tonya Cox, all of Neodesha, are the coordinators for Wilson County. Sharon Suske, Yates Center, is the Woodson County coordinator.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 79,500 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
