Instead, the team will return to Allen Fieldhouse after today's game against the Oregon Ducks. Doors to the fieldhouse will open at 7 p.m. The team is expected to arrive at the fieldhouse around 9 p.m.
If the Jayhawks defeat the Oregon Ducks, the stadium will open after the game. Fans may celebrate together and await the team's arrival sometime around 9:30 p.m. Updates on the team's flight from Madison, Wis., and arrival in Lawrence will be given at the stadium.
In the interim, the stadium videoboard will show the postgame team press conferences via satellite and show hithliights of the game. Other video presentations will include messages from basketball coach Roy Williams and football coach Mark Mangino, an interactive trivia contest and basketball highlights.
The game is scheduled to start at 1:40 p.m. Sunday. A KU victory will send th Jayhawks to the Final Four for the first time since 1993.
"We are looking forward to a family-friendly community celebration to welcome our team home and show them how proud we are," said Jeff Weinberg, assistant to Chancellor Robert Hemenway.
Concession stands and restrooms on the west side of the stadium will be open. Fans should enter the stadium at the west entrance. No tailgating with alcohol will be permitted around the stadium, and there will be enhanced law enforcement on campus.
If the Jayhawks lose Sunday's game, the team will return to Allen Fieldhouse around 9:30 p.m. and no events will take place at the stadium. In the event of inclement weather, stadium events also will be canceled and the team bus will return to the fieldhouse.
