MEDIA ADVISORY: KU Endowment to celebrate construction of Malott Gateway on campus' west side

WHEN: 2 p.m. Friday, May 3.

WHERE: The KU Visitor Center at 1502 Iowa St.

WHAT: A donor and officials with the University of Kansas and the KU Endowment Association will unveil a replica of the sandstone "University of Kansas" brick that will adorn the Malott Gateway. The gateway project was made possible by a $1 million gift from the Robert H. Malott family of Kenilworth, Ill., in honor of Malott's father and mother, former KU Chancellor Deane W. Malott and his wife, Eleanor.

WHO: Bob Malott, who is the retired president and chairman of FMC Corp. of Chicago, and Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway will speak at the event and be available for interviews following the announcement.

PARKING: Parking will be available in the lot in front of the Visitor Center.

The Kansas University Endowment Association is an independent, non-profit organization serving as the official fund-raising and fund-management organization for the University of Kansas. Founded in 1891, KU Endowment is the first foundation of its kind at a U.S. public university and one of the largest.
