LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas has named Donna Liss, the director of information systems and services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as the new associate vice chancellor of information services.
Liss, who will report to Marilu Goodyear, KU vice chancellor for information services, will begin her position June 2.
The associate vice chancellor for information services provides leadership, management and supervision of information technology staff in administrative and academic computing, including Computing Services, Academic Computing Services, LAN Support Services and Decision Support Services. The associate vice chancellor also helps provide leadership, vision and technical guidance in the development of information technology services to meet the instructional, research and administrative needs of the university.
Liss has been director of Nebraska's information systems and services since 1994. She has received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents Award for Exemplary Service and the University of Nebraska Award for Distinguished Service to Students. She earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Nebraska and is completing a master's degree.
"I am very pleased to have Donna as the new associate vice chancellor," said Goodyear. "Her depth of understanding of the role of information technology in supporting the broader university mission will be extremely beneficial in her new role, as will her skills in team-building and in working on collaborative ventures between libraries and information technology. Donna also brings to KU great experience with technology in relation to student services."
