LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas will host an environmental career symposium for students of all disciplines interested in pursuing a career in the environmental field. The symposium will start at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Burge Union.
The symposium will consist of a career panel discussion and an informational fair.
The career panel discussion will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Frontier Room with representatives from Kansas Land Trust, Ramsey Environmental Group, Kansas Streamlink, Waste Reduction and Recycling, Environmental Protection Agency and Tetra Tech EM Inc.
Representatives from more than 20 businesses and organizations will be on hand for the informational fair from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Room. The representatives will meet with students and distribute materials regarding volunteer, internship and employment opportunities.
The environmental career symposium is a new initiative and joint effort of the Environmental Studies Student Association, KU's Environmental Studies Program and University Career and Employment Services with sponsorship from Coca-Cola to expand the career opportunities available to students.
