KU to honor southern Johnson county high school seniors

LAWRENCE -- Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Oct. 30, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors Gardner Edgerton, Olathe, Spring Hill and St. Thomas Aquinas high schools, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. program at Olathe East High School, 14545 W. 127th St., Olathe.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Donald Hagen, executive vice chancellor of the KU Medical Center, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kelly Kidwell, assistant director of chapters and constituent programs, is in charge of award presentations.

The program is free for all attendees. A reception will follow.

Elaine and Mark Corder, Olathe, will serve as the site coordinators.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 82,874 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
