LAWRENCE -- Students from eight Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Nov. 6, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Geary, Dickinson and Morris counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Chapman High School, 400 W. 4th, Chapman.
Honorees' names are listed below.
Stella Bentley, dean of KU libraries, will speak. Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $12.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Susan James, Chapman, will serve as the site coordinator. Julie Hamel, Chapman, will serve as the county coordinator for alumni, and Sue and Todd Frieze, Chapman, will serve as the county coordinators for parents and students.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 82,874 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
