LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas' Kansas Public Radio will hold its annual week-long CD give away Nov. 3 to 9. The giveaway is KPR's way of thanking the listeners who helped raise more than $200,000 by pledging their support during the RadioFest 2002 fund campaign.
KPR will give away one CD every hour during locally produced programming. That's more than 75 hours of classical, jazz and acoustic music. Local listeners will call (785) 864-4530 to have a chance at winning a CD beginning Sunday, Nov. 3. Listeners calling long-distance can call toll-free, 1-888-KPR-KANU (1-888-577-5268), for a chance to win. Also, listeners can visit KPR's Web site at kpr.ku.edu to register for a daily on-line giveaway.
The CD give away week will kick off at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 during Trail Mix, KPR's Sunday afternoon show featuring Celtic, bluegrass, contemporary acoustic and folk music. KPR will give away CDs throughout the week during nine hours of classical music and four hours of jazz each weekday. The giveaway will draw to a close with The Jazz Scene at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
KPR does not spend membership dollars on the CDs it uses for giveaways. Record companies provide promotional recordings for the giveaway.
