LAWRENCE -- Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, Oct. 15, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Anderson and Franklin counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Anderson County High School, 1100 W. Highway 31, Garnett.
Honorees are listed below.
Michael Swann, associate dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Design, will speak. Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $11 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Terry Solander, Garnett, is the site and Anderson County coordinator. Charlie and Margy Porter, Ottawa, will serve as the Franklin County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 82,874 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
