WHAT: Officials from the Kansas University Endowment Association and KU will announce a major gift from Walter and Jayne Garrison, of Rose Tree, Pa., for the flight test complex of the KU Department of Aerospace Engineering. The gift counts toward the $500 million goal of KU First: Invest in Excellence.
WHEN: 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20
WHERE: The University of Kansas Hangar at the Lawrence Municipal Airport. To get there, take Interstate 70 to the East Lawrence exit. Turn north onto N. Second Street and continue to Highway 40. Turn east onto Highway 40 and continue to the Airport Motel, 1493 Highway 40. Turn north onto E. 1500 Road. The hangar will be on the right, about 0.4 mile from the motel.
WHO: The Garrisons, KU Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway, KU First Chair Forrest E. Hoglund and School of Engineering Dean Stuart R. Bell will speak at the event and be available for interviews following the announcement.
PARKING: Parking will be available at the hangar.
