LAWRENCE -- Students from nine Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Sept. 30, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Sedgwick County, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Maize High School, 11600 W. 45th St. N., Maize.
Honorees are listed below.
Barbara Ballard, associate vice chancellor for student affairs, will speak. Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president of membership services, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $8.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Nick and Naomi Ard, Maize, are the site coordinators. Rachel and Jason Purdy, Wichita, will serve as the Sedgwick County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 82,874 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
