LAWRENCE -- Students from eight Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, Oct. 1, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Cherokee and Labette counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Parsonian Hotel ballroom, 1725 Broadway, Parsons.
Honorees are listed below.
Diana Carlin, dean of the graduate school and international programs, will speak. Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $13.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Mary Catherine and Chuck Brown, Parsons, will be the site coordinators. They will also serve as the Cherokee and Labette county coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 82,874 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
