KU Symphony Orchestra opens fall season Sept. 27

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Timothy Hankewich, associate conductor of the Kansas City Symphony and interim director of orchestral studies at KU, debuts its fall season with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Lied Center of Kansas.

The program begins with "Egmont: Overture, op. 84," by Ludwig van Beethoven. The second piece is Tchaikovskyÿs "Francesca da Rimini, Op. 92."

After intermission the concert concludes with "Symphony No. 1, Op. 39," by Jean Sibelius.
