LAWRENCE --The University of Kansas Women's Studies Program now offers a graduate certificate program that studies women and gender and can provide certification of completion on a graduate transcript.
Students may enroll in the 12-hour program either on its own or while pursuing a graduate degree in another department.
"A graduate certificate in women's studies is particularly useful to students in the humanities, social sciences or sciences who seek academic employment in interdisciplinary women's studies programs, or to those who want to study women and gender within a traditional discipline," said Ann Cudd, director of women's studies and professor of philosophy. "It is also useful for those who currently work with or hope to work with women's organizations or in supervisory capacities in business or government."
The women's studies graduate certificate is one of the first two graduate certificate programs to be offered in the KU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences this fall. The other is in museum collections conservation.
