LAWRENCE -- More than 850 students received degrees from the University of Kansas after the 2002 summer session, according to KU Registrar Richard C. Morrell, who announced the names of the new graduates today.
Because KU conducts only one formal commencement ceremony each year, many of these graduates will return to take part in commencement exercises May 18, 2003. The list of students graduating from Kansas and other states can be found at www.ur.ku.edu/News/02N/SeptNews/Sept4/directory.html.
The graduates are from these counties: Allen, Anderson, Atchison, Barton, Bourbon, Brown, Butler, Cherokee, Coffey, Cowley, Dickinson, Doniphan, Douglas, Ellis, Ellsworth, Finney, Ford, Franklin, Geary, Greenwood, Harvey, Jefferson, Johnson, Kearny, Kingman, Labette, Leavenworth, Lyon, Marshall, McPherson, Miami, Montgomery, Neosho, Osage, Pottawatomie, Rawlins, Reno, Republic, Riley, Rush, Saline, Scott, Sedgwick, Seward, Shawnee, Sherman, Stafford, Sumner, Thomas, Trego, Wilson, Woodson and Wyandotte.
Student names are presented in the following format:
HOMETOWN
First name, last name, gender (M or F), degree, school, parents or guardians (P/G), name of former high school (when available).
Here is an example:
WHOVILLE
HORTON WHO M BA English P/G Hugh and Holly Who, Whoville High School
Graduate students may not include parents' names and home addresses or a high school alma mater. In that case the listing is more brief:
WHOVILLE
HORTON WHO M PhD English P/G None
Note: KU offers about 75 undergraduate and 165 graduate degrees. To facilitate listing of degrees, abbreviations for the more common ones are used with the major or majors when applicable. If no major is listed, the name of the major is in the name of the degree. The degree key below is used in abbreviating names of degrees :
