KU plans festive community celebration to welcome Jayhawks home Tuesday

LAWRENCE -- Kansas Jayhawks fans are invited to welcome home Coach Roy Williams and the basketball team from the Final Four at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse.

The event will celebrate the team's phenomenal success this season, including an appearance in the Final Four for the second consecutive year. The event is free and open to the public. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.

Longtime Jayhawk radio announcers Max Falkenstien and Bob Davis will emcee the event. Speakers will include Chancellor Robert Hemenway, Williams and several team members. The alma mater will be sung by T-12, an a capella group of 12 men from the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at KU. The group has been a tradition in the fraternity for more than 50 years.

All parking is free in surface lots surrounding the fieldhouse. Parking garage gates will be open.
