Statement by Chancellor on death of KU graduate student in accident Monday

Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway made the following statement in response to the death Monday, Aug. 18, of Chantal Anderson, a University of Kansas graduate student in the health, sport and exercise sciences department from Lawrence. Anderson, a 2002 graduate of the School of Education, died in a car accident west of Lawrence that killed two and injured one. Funeral services are pending. Jonathan P. Merz, a KU graduate student, was injured in the accident and is hospitalized.

"On behalf of the entire KU community, I want to express my profound sorrow at the death of Chantal Anderson. This tragic accident fills us with sadness, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends."
