KC Star art critic to speak at KU March 5

LAWRENCE --The public is invited to hear Kansas City Star art critic Alice Thorson discuss "New Art in Kansas City" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the Spencer Museum of Art auditorium at the University of Kansas.

The Star's art critic since 1991, Thorson has written articles on artists and art for regional and national publications for 20 years. She earned a master's degree in art history at Northern Illinois University in 1981, followed by two years of doctoral work at the University of Chicago in her hometown. Her talk at the Spencer art museum will survey the Kansas City's vibrant art scene.
