Moment of silence on KU campuses Tuesday to honor Space Shuttle crew

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas will pay tribute to the seven astronauts on the Space Shuttle Columbia with a moment of silence at noon Tuesday. KU's Lawrence and Kansas City, Kan., campuses and the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park will participate in the noon tribute.

On the Lawrence campus the moment of silence will be followed by the tolling of bells and a brief music program on the Memorial Campanile.

A moment of silence also will be observed tonight immediately following the National Anthem at the Kansas vs. Missouri basketball game at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence.

Flags on campus will continue to fly at half-staff. Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on Saturday ordered the flags at the Capitol in Topeka and all state facilities to be flown at half-staff.
