LAWRENCE -- The clerk of the U.S. Supreme Court will visit the University of Kansas School of Law Jan. 28 and 29 to speak in law classes and to two forums that will be open to the public.
Retired Maj. Gen. William K. Suter has been the clerk of the U.S. Supreme Court since 1991. He is the 19th person to hold that position.
Two sessions with Suter are open to the public:
A question-and-answer forum on the U.S. Supreme Court, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in 106 Green Hall
A Judge Advocate General's Corps career opportunities forum, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in 107 Green Hall
Suter previously was a career Army judge advocate and retired as a major general. He served in numerous positions of responsibility around the world, including appellate judge, deputy staff judge advocate of the U.S. Army in Vietnam, staff judge advocate of the 101st Airborne Division, commandant of the JAG School and the assistant judge advocate general of the Army.
He is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and the Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, La.
