LAWRENCE -- Students from five Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Feb. 12, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Finney, Hamilton and Kearny counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Southwind Country Club, South Star Route, in Garden City.
Honorees are listed below.
Robert Hemenway, KU chancellor, will speak. Alumni Association representative Chris Lazzarino, managing editor of Kansas Alumni magazine, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Geneen Love, Rebecca Crotty and Kim Shaddix, all of Garden City, will serve as Finney and Kearny county coordinators. Rob Gale Jr., Syracuse, will serve as the Hamilton County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 85,600 students in the top 10 percent of Kansas high school senior classes.
