LAWRENCE -- Sixty-one University of Kansas students spent part of their winter break honing their leadership skills at the LeaderShape Institute, sponsored by the KU Office of Organizations and Leadership.
"Leading with Integrity" was the theme of the conference, which took place Jan. 8 through 13 at the Tall Oaks Conference Center near Linwood. Students worked in large and small groups, working through simulations of situations they could face as leaders and identifying their leadership strengths and styles. The students learned about the leadership process while developing a plan for a program or organization they could implement after finishing the conference.
The university has sponsored a LeaderShape Institute for the past six years. More than 50 sessions of the institute are taking place this year across the country. Since the program was founded in 1986, nearly 14,000 participants have attended LeaderShape Institutes.
