LAWRENCE -- "Right Between the Ears," the popular sketch comedy show produced by Kansas Public Radio, recently captured Gold and Silver Medals at the 2003 New York Festivals. The awards were presented June 26 in New York City.
The entire cast of "Right Between the Ears" received a Gold Medal in the Best Comedy/Humor Personality: Local category. The show also received a Silver Medal in the Best Writing category.
For 46 years, the New York Festivals has honored excellence in communications media that touch the hearts and minds of readers, listeners and viewers worldwide. The annual radio competition typically receives several thousand entries from all over the world, representing broadcasters in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and the United States.
"Right Between the Ears" previously received Gold Medals from the New York Festivals in the Best Comedy Program and Best Writing categories. In 1993, the show (then known as "The Imagination Workshop") took home the festivals' Grand Prize.
"Right Between the Ears" is produced by Kansas Public Radio's Darrell Brogdon, who also serves as principal writer. The series recently presented its final show of the season at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.
