KU announces Board of Class Officers elected for 2003-04 school year

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas has announced the sophomores, juniors and seniors elected to the Board of Class Officers for the 2003-04 school year.

The senior class officers are the administrative officers for BOCO, which is composed of the officers of the freshmen, sophomore and junior classes. The class offices include president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.

When the school year begins on Aug. 21, BOCO will begin meeting to determine assignment of responsibilities.

Senior class officers are responsible for awards such as the H.O.P.E. award, which honors a progressive educator; the C.L.A.S.S. award, citation for leadership and achievement in student services; and the Campanile Award, presented to a graduating senior who has displayed remarkable leadership, strength of character and respect for KU. The officers also create the class banners carried in the commencement processional, select a senior class gift and appoint a senior advisory board in the fall to provide greater representation of the senior class.

Officers' names, year in school, major, parents' names, high school alma mater and position on the board are listed below.

Hometowns: Kansas City, Lawrence, Overland Park, Larned, Manhattan, Topeka and Wichita; Kansas City, Mo.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Irving, Texas.

DOUGLAS COUNTY
From Lawrence
Nick Blasi, senior in business administration and design, son of Michael and Kira Blasi; Kapaun-Mt. Carmel High School graduate; senior class treasurer.

JOHNSON COUNTY
From Overland Park
Leo Khayet, junior in business administration, son of Benjamin Khayet and Yelena Khayet-Shmidova; Blue Valley North High School graduate; junior class treasurer.
Greyson Clymer, sophomore planning to study business administration and medicine, son of David and Melanie Clymer; Shawnee Mission East High School graduate; sophomore class treasurer.
