KU Libraries name Rubinstein-Mason award winner

LAWRENCE Ð Katherine M. Crowe, Lawrence, has been named the recipient of the 2003 Rubinstein-Mason Award from the University of Kansas Libraries.

Crowe, a graduating senior in history, formerly worked as a student assistant in the KU Libraries. She has been accepted into the master of library science degree programs at the University of Texas at Austin and Emporia State University. Crowe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Crowe and is a Lawrence High School graduate.

The Rubinstein-Mason Award includes a cash prize of $1,000 to support graduate study in librarianship. The award is funded by charitable contributions to the KU Endowment Association.

The Rubinstein-Mason Award honors the late Joseph Rubinstein, first head of the KU Libraries' Department of Special Collections, and Alexandra Mason, Spencer librarian emerita at KU.

Preference is given to student applicants whose primary interest is in special collections librarianship and who have been employed as assistants in the KU Libraries.
