KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas Lt. Gov. John E. Moore will meet with life sciences leaders in Kansas City on Wednesday afternoon to get a briefing on collaborative research and its economic potential for the region.
Moore will be joined by Rep. Kenny Wilk (R-Lansing), chair of the Kansas House Economic Development Committee, and Troy Findley of the Office of the Governor, as well as other officials.
The briefing begins at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research with remarks by University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway, Stowers President William Neaves and Kansas City Life Sciences Institute President William Duncan. A tour of the facility will follow.
The briefing will continue at the KU Medical Center, with a presentation on technology transfer and commercialization of research, an overview of collaborative life sciences work being done at the Lawrence and Medical Center campuses, and a preview tour of the new Hoglund Brain Imaging Center. A working dinner will feature four faculty members discussing their research and its potential.
