KU to honor Crawford County high school seniors March 31 at Pittsburg

LAWRENCE -- Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, March 31, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Crawford County, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Pittsburg State University, Crimson and Gold Room, Jack Overman Center, Pittsburg.

Honorees are listed below.

Diana Bartelli Carlin, dean of the graduate school and international programs and professor of communications studies at KU, will speak. Alumni Association representative Carolyn Barnes, director of the Kansas Honors Program, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $9 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Nancy Hoff Scott, Pittsburg, is the site coordinator. Dr. Rodney and Karen Odgers, Pittsburg, are the Crawford County coordinators.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 85,600 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
