Choral group Cantus to perform at Lied Center at KU April 6

LAWRENCE -- The Lied Center of Kansas Swarthout Chamber Music Series presents Cantus at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the University of Kansas.

The Minneapolis, Minn., choral ensemble's program will include songs with themes such as "The Diabolic and the Divine"; "War and Peace"; "Love"; and "Bound Away -- Songs of Earth."

The Lied Center's 2003-04 10th anniversary season announcement will follow at 5:30 p.m. The center opened at KU in September 1993. Held onstage, this event will include a presentation highlighting the performing artists on next season's Lied Series, and invited guests will include Friends of the Lied, Very Important Partner corporate sponsors, the media and the Cantus audience.

Education residency
 • 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6: Pre-concert lecture with KU Professor Emeritus of Music History Dan Politoske. Oldfather Warm-up/Dance Studio, Lied Center.
 • 9 a.m. Monday, April 7: Choral master class with the Southwest Junior High School choir.
