LAWRENCE -- Students, staff and faculty are invited to attend the Graduate School's annual awards ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Big 12 Room of the Kansas Union at the University of Kansas.
Chancellor Robert Hemenway, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor David Shulenburger and Diana Carlin, dean of the Graduate School and International Programs, will present awards and recognize outstanding accomplishments in graduate and professional education at KU.
The Graduate School will recognize graduate students receiving both national and institutional scholarships, fellowships and awards. Graduate students also will be recognized for outstanding teaching and service to the university community, and faculty will be recognized for their outstanding mentoring of graduate and professional students.
The Graduate School will award two Carlin Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards, five Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards and the Graduate Student Award for Distinguished Service. In addition, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will award the Byron Alexander Graduate Mentor Award and the John C. Wright Graduate Mentor Award. Finally, the Graduate and Professional Association will award the Outstanding Mentor Awards and the Chancellor's Outstanding Mentor Award.
"This event is the only celebration on campus that recognizes the accomplishments of graduate students and faculty and celebrates the many accomplishments within graduate education at KU," said Carlin. "Having graduate students and faculty who excel at the level of the honorees makes KU a special place."
