LAWRENCE -- An annual exhibition featuring student work from the undergraduate and graduate architecture programs at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Design will be on display Nov. 23 through Dec. 3 in the Art and Design gallery at KU.
The exhibition, "Architecture Education at KU," will feature drawings, digital computer printouts and models of various sizes by students on all studio levels working toward bachelor's or master's degrees in architecture.
"What makes such an exhibition so exciting is that it permits students and faculty to see the work that is being produced by other (levels), thereby broadening everyone's horizons," said Bezaleel Benjamin, professor of architecture. "It also puts before the general public the quality of work being produced by the School of Architecture."
Benjamin also said the exhibition serves as a prelude to an accreditation visit from the National Architectural Accrediting Board in the spring, when the works from the exhibition again will be available for viewing. The architecture program at KU offers two NAAB-accredited degrees.
The Art and Design Gallery is on the third floor of the Art and Design Building, at the northeast corner of 15th Street and Naismith Drive. Hours are 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. The gallery is closed Saturdays and holidays. Visitor parking is available at the Allen Fieldhouse Parking Garage, 1501 Irving Hill Road.
