LAWRENCE -- The Emily Taylor Women's Resource Center at the University of Kansas and the Commission on the Status of Women will host the ninth annual Women's Leadership Conference Sunday, Nov. 9, in the Kansas Union. The conference is open to area college students and high school seniors.
Registration for the conference, which will focus on "Enhancing Lives through Knowledge and Service," will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Big 12 Room. Registration forms are available at the Emily Taylor center in 400 Kansas Union. The cost is $10. Participants may register in advance or at the door.
Marlesa Roney, vice provost for student success at KU, will give the keynote address, followed by breakout sessions on "Money Matters: Financial Planning for Women Leaders," "Finding Your Inner Leader through Creativity," "Speak Up: Communicating with Authority" and "Wearing Many Hats: Integrating Your Many Life Roles." Roundtable sessions will be followed by a service project for the community organizations Small World and First Step House.
At a session called "Dress for Success: Professional Work Wear for Graduating Women" from 5 to 6:30 p.m., graduating students can choose a professional outfit at no cost, donated by professional women on campus and in the community.
