LAWRENCE -- Students from 10 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Nov. 17, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 77 seniors from high schools in Chase, Coffey, Lyon and southern Morris counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception at the Emporia State University Student Union, 12th and Commercial, Emporia.
Honorees are listed below.
Kevin Boatright, associate executive vice chancellor for university relations, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kelly Norris, executive assistant for external relations, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $10 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Gary Ace, Emporia, will serve as the site and Lyon County coordinator. Brian Filinger, Emporia, will serve as the Chase County coordinator. Polly Epting and Ken Vaughn, Burlington, will serve as the Coffey County coordinators and Jody Sellers, Council Grove, will serve as the Morris County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 86,368 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
