KU to honor 125 high school seniors from Harvey, Reno counties on Oct. 22

LAWRENCE -- Students from 13 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Oct. 22, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 125 seniors from high schools in Harvey and Reno counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception at the Hutchinson Plaza Hotel, 1400 N. Lorraine, Hutchinson.

Honorees are listed below.

Michael J. Davis, professor of law, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Chris Lazzarino, managing editor of Kansas Alumni magazine, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Sue Ice, Newton, will serve as Harvey County coordinator. Terry Edwards, Hutchinson, will serve as the site and Reno County coordinator.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 86,368 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
