WHAT: University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway will join Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, the Kansas Board of Regents and 15 other college and university presidents to launch Kansas Campus Compact.
Hemenway and the other presidents will sign the organization's charter, making Kansas the 30th state to establish a compact and affiliate with the national Campus Compact. The governor and Reggie Robinson, president and chief executive officer of the Kansas Board of Regents, will sign as witnesses to the charter.
Campus Compact implements a range of initiatives designed to make public and community service a fundamental component of American higher education.

WHERE: Former Supreme Court chambers in the state Capitol, Topeka
SPEAKERS: Sebelius and Liz Hollander, executive director of the national Campus Compact, based in Providence, R.I.
Hollander also will address the Kansas Board of Regents at their meeting in Topeka on Wednesday before the signing ceremony.
CHARTER MEMBERS: In addition to KU, charter members of Kansas Campus Compact include: Allen County Community College, Baker University, Cloud County Community College, Fort Hays State University, Fort Scott Community College, Garden City Community College, Highland Community College, Hutchinson Community College, Independence Community College, Johnson County Community College, Kansas State University, Labette Community College, Southwestern College, Seward County Community College and the University of Saint Mary.
