LAWRENCE -- Students from 10 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Oct. 27, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 93 seniors from high schools in Clay, Pottawatomie and Riley counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception at Manhattan Country Club, 1531 North 10th St., Manhattan.
Honorees are listed below.
Jack Fincham, dean of the School of Pharmacy, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Fred B. Williams, president and chief executive officer, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $13 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
A. Mark and Toni Stremel, Manhattan, will serve as the site and Riley County coordinators. Lucy Mulroney and Sylvia Mansfield, Clay Center, will serve as the Clay County coordinators, and Doug and Joyce Elcock, Wamego, will serve as the Pottawatomie County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 86,368 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
