LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas has announced the officers for the First Nations Student Association for the 2003-04 school year.
The group was founded in 1991 as the Native American Student Association, becoming the First Nations Student Association in 1998. It was honored in 1999 as the Outstanding Native Organization at the American Indian Student Leadership Conference.
The group is funded by Student Senate and advised by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

DOUGLAS COUNTY
From Lawrence
Steve K. Byington, senior in business administration, son of Ross and Jeanette Byington; Lawrence High School graduate; vice president.
JOHNSON COUNTY
From Lenexa
Thomas Ryan Red Corn, senior in design; Shawnee Mission Northwest High School graduate; co-president.
ARIZONA
From Tucson
Monica Margaret Tsethlikai, doctoral student in developmental and child psychology, daughter of Leonard Tsethlikai; list-serve coordinator. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Notre Dame University and a master's degree in indigenous nations studies at KU.
OKLAHOMA
From Broken Bow
Natalie Ruth Jefferson, master's degree student in social work, daughter of Margaret Battiest; Broken Bow High School graduate; treasurer. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from KU.
From Pawhuska
Laura Olivia Standing-Bear, junior in anthropology, daughter of Eugene and Patricia Standing-Bear; Pawhuska High School graduate; co-president.
