LAWRENCE -- Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 17, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Sumner County, will meet for a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception, where they will be named Kansas Honor Scholars. The program will be at Regent Theatre, 114 W. Lincoln, Wellington.
Honorees are listed below.
Donald Hagen, executive vice chancellor of the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., will speak at the program. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jen Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $10 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
David Carr, Wellington, will serve as site coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 86,368 students in the top 10 percent of Kansas high school senior classes.
