LAWRENCE -- University of Kansas students will have an opportunity to impress prospective employers on Sept. 17 at the Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair, the first such event of the academic year.
Although many of the employers represent engineering fields, the event -- which runs from noon to 5 p.m. in the Kansas Union ballroom -- is open to all KU students. Students whose majors closely align with engineering, such as math and science, are strongly encouraged to attend.
Engineering Career Services Center, which is coordinating the event, expects about 50 employers to attend. Linda Cropp, career services coordinator for the center, said about the same number of employers attended last year's fair.
About 600 to 700 students are expected to attend the career fair, Cropp said. The event also is open to alumni and recent graduates.
Engineering Career Services Center offers engineering students a variety of services and workshops that address skills students need during the interview process. The center also offers resume reviews and is scheduling appointments for mock interviews. Employers volunteer their time with students in a simulated interview to help students become more polished with their responses and actions. Appointments for mock interviews are required.
