LAWRENCE -- Students from 16 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Sept. 22, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Douglas, Jefferson and Leavenworth counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. program at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive, Lawrence.
Honorees are listed below.
John Gaunt, dean of architecture and urban design at KU, will speak at Monday's program. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president for membership services, is in charge of award presentations.
The program is free to all attendees. A reception will follow.
Karen Van Blaricum, Lawrence, is the site coordinator. Teresa Dillon, David Johnston and Rita Spradlin, also of Lawrence, will serve as Douglas County coordinators. Cynthia Lewis, Lecompton, will serve as Jefferson County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 86,368 students in the top 10 percent of Kansas high school senior classes.
