LAWRENCE -- Students from 15 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 10, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Marion, McPherson and Rice counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. program at Holiday Manor Convention Center, 2211 E. Kansas, McPherson.
Honorees are listed below.
Kim Wilcox, dean of the KU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will speak at Wednesday's program. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president for membership services, is in charge of award presentations.
The program is free to all attendees. A reception will follow.
Mary Kornhaus, McPherson, will serve as site coordinator. Jim Christensen and Martin Tice, Marion, are Marion County coordinators. Ken and Barbara Cole, McPherson, are McPherson County coordinators. Roger Tobias, Lyons, is Rice County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 86,368 students in the top 10 percent of Kansas high school senior classes.
