LAWRENCE -- “Right Between the Ears,” the popular sketch comedy
show produced by Kansas Public Radio at the University of Kansas, has received
a record four awards in the 2004 Communicator Awards.
“
Right Between the Ears” received four Crystal Awards of Excellence, the
top prize given in the annual competition, in the following categories: Writing/Humor;
Creativity/On-Air Talent/Humor; Creativity/On-Air Talent/Acting; and Radio
Programs/Live Broadcast. The four Crystal Awards for “Right Between the
Ears” were the most handed out to any single entrant in the 2004 competition.
The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition
that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field. Entries are judged
by industry
professionals "who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds
a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the
industry.” The 2004 competition received nearly 1,000 entries.
“
Right Between the Ears” is produced by KPR's Darrell Brogdon, who also
serves as principal writer. Cast members include David Greusel, John Jessup,
Mary Ellen Kriegh, Andi Meyer, Kip Niven, Rick Tamblyn, Roberta Solomon and
Teri Wilder. Music for the show is provided by Bill Crahan. Production engineers
are KPR's Jason Slote and Chubias Smith.
On Nov. 27, the series produced its annual holiday show
at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, a program that was broadcast live on Kansas Public
Radio stations.
The show will receive an encore broadcast at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, on KPR.
In addition, the holiday show will be broadcast nationwide later this month
by SIRIUS Satellite Radio. “Right Between the Ears” airs every
Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. Central time on SIRIUS.
