Internationally known Civil War historian to speak at KU on terrorism in U.S. history

LAWRENCE -- Michael Fellman, an internationally recognized Civil War historian and author of several books on abolitionism and the coming of the Civil War, will give a public lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the Simons Media Room at the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics on the University of Kansas West Campus.

Fellman's talk is titled "John Brown's Body: Terrorism and the Construction of American Society."

Since Fellman received his Ph.D. in history at Northwestern University in 1969, he has been a professor of history at Simon Fraser University in Canada. He has written six books, including "Inside War: The Guerrilla Conflict in Missouri During the American Civil War" in 1989, "Citizen Sherman: A Life of William Tecumseh Sherman" in 1995 and "The Making of Robert E. Lee" in 2000.
