LAWRENCE -- Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Feb. 18, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 46 seniors from high schools in Barton and Rush counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:15 p.m. dinner reception at The Club at StoneRidge, 24th and Frey, Great Bend.
Honorees are listed below.
Ann Cudd, professor of philosophy and director of women's studies at KU, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $10 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Mary King, Great Bend, will serve as the site coordinator. Perry and Krista Smith, Great Bend, will serve as the Barton County coordinators and Mary Barrows, LaCrosse, will serve as the Rush County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 89,113 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
