LAWRENCE -- Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Feb. 9, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 43 seniors from high schools in Allen, Bourbon and Woodson counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception at Fort Scott High School, 1005 S. Main, Fort Scott.
Honorees are listed below.
Robert Weaver, associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jennifer Jackson Sanner, senior vice president for communications and editor of Kansas Alumni magazine, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $6.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Gary and Sally Cullor, Fort Scott, will serve as the site coordinators. James and Carol Immel, Iola, will serve as the Allen County Coordinators. Susy Hammons, Pittsburg, will serve as the Bourbon County coordinator and Sharson Suske, Yates Center, will serve as the Woodson County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 89,113 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
