LAWRENCE -- This summer's Kansas Public Radio broadcast highlights include the music of Robert Schumann and a live performance from KC Summerfest musicians.
From 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 28, through Wednesday, June 30, KPR will air a series of three concerts by the Staatskapelle Berlin, conducted by Daniel Barenboim. All three concerts feature the music of composer Robert Schumann, including four symphonies and a violin concerto.
The Staatskapelle Berlin concerts are a prelude to KPR's reprise of John Tibbets' 13-part series, þThe World of Robert Schumann.ú Tibbets, associate professor of theatre and film at the University of Kansas, has produced a new episode for the series rebroadcast. The series kicks off at 8 p.m. Monday, July 5.
On Friday, July 9, live from the KPR performance studio will be musicians from the K.C. Summerfest chamber music series. Performers will include former KU professors Susan Brashier, oboe, and Michael Kimber, viola. The broadcast will begin shortly after 11 a.m.
KPR, licensed to KU, broadcasts on KANU 91.5-FM in Lawrence, KANH 89.7-FM in Emporia, KANV 91.3-FM in Olsburg-Junction City and K210CR 89.9-FM in Atchison.
