LAWRENCE -- Argentine culture will be the subject of a workshop presented by the Center of Latin American Studies this weekend at the University of Kansas.
"The Southern End of the Americas: Argentina -- A Teachers' Workshop" will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in Spooner Hall. The workshop will include cultural and educational information for elementary, secondary and postsecondary teachers of social studies, humanities or languages.
Scheduled lectures include "ÀQuŽ acelga? Introducing Argentine Popular Culture," "Soccer and Society," "A Day in the Life of an Argentine Student" and "Effective Ways of Incorporating Argentine Culture into the Classroom," as well as a tango dance presentation. A traditional Argentine lunch will be served.
A $10 registration fee is required for the workshop and lunch, or $5 will cover the workshop only. Registration forms are requested by May 5, but walk-ins will be welcome for only the workshop. For more information, call (785) 864-4213 or visit www.ku.edu/~latamst.
