KU to honor 339 high school seniors from Sedgwick County in Wichita on Nov. 8

LAWRENCE -- Students from 14 Sedgwick County high schools will be honored Monday, Nov. 8, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 339 seniors will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7:30 p.m. program at the Wichita State University Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 5015 E. 29th North, Wichita.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Barbara Ballard, associate director for civic programming and public outreach at the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.

The program is free to all attendees, and a reception will follow.

Teresa Veazey Heying, Wichita, will be the Sedgwick County coordinator, and Martin W. Bauer, Wichita, president of the Sedgwick County Kansas Alumni Association, will be an alumni representative.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 89, 875 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
