LAWRENCE -- Students from 13 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Oct. 20, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 129 seniors from Harvey and Reno county high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. program at the Grand Prairie Hotel and Convention Center, 1400 N. Lorraine, Hutchinson.
Honorees' names are listed below.
Marlesa Roney, vice provost for student success, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
R.A. and Terry Edwards, Hutchinson, will be the Reno County and site co-coordinators. Jeff and Marla Eriksen, Hutchinson, are Reno County co-coordinators; and Ted and Sue Ice, Newton, are Harvey County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 89,875 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes. /p>
