LAWRENCE -- Students from 10 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Oct. 25, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 95 seniors from Clay, Pottawatomie and Riley county high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. program at the Manhattan Country Club, 1531 N. 10th St., Manhattan, Kan.
Honorees' names are listed below.
David Adkins, vice chancellor of external affairs at the KU Medical Center, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president for membership services, is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $13 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
A. Mark and Toni Stremel, Manhattan, will be the site and Riley County coordinators. Lucy Mulroney and Sylvia Mansfield, both of Clay Center, will be the Clay County coordinators; and Doug and Joyce Elcock, Wamego, will be the Pottawatomie County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 89,875 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
