LAWRENCE -- Students from 15 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 22, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 78 seniors from Marion, McPherson and Rice county high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Holiday Manor Convention Center, 2211 E. Kansas, McPherson.
Honorees' names are listed below.
David Shulenburger, provost and executive vice chancellor, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny of the Kansas Honors Program is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $12 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Mary Kornhaus, McPherson, will be the site coordinator. Jim Christensen and Martin Tice, both from Marion, will be Marion County coordinators; Ken and Barbara Cole, McPherson, will be McPherson County coordinators and Roger Tobias, Lyons, the Rice County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in1971. It has recognized 89,875 students in the top 10 percent of Kansas high-school senior classes.
